Dear friend,

I want to tell you about a copywriting technique I learned that has helped me talk to my audience with my personal brand. @mikegthecreative

How it started

In Oct of 2022, I fell into the storytelling rabbit hole. And in my storytelling journey I discovered copywriting, another rabbit hole lol.

And it’s been love at first sight ever since lol. But NOW… I now I cocktail copywriting techniques to tell my stories.

What do I mean by storytelling? It is telling YOUR story or lessons. For example, talking about the time you learned about profit margins, taxes, or about compound interest.

There’s a lot of small lessons you think everyone else knows, but you’d be surprised there is more of you that didn’t know and less of the ones who did. So you can be the one to teach to others behind you in the journey.

First copywriting lesson

The first storytelling and copywriting technique I learn was Dear Child. Or also known as dear friend like how I started this email.

To summarize. You write a letter to a friend and start with dear friend. Once you’re done writing delete dear friend and you have your story to share with your audience.

It’s more effect when you write to one person than many.

Lastly

If you have a lesson or a story you want to share. The more specific the better. Try out the Dear Child/Friend method. It make them feel like your wrote it for them.

Imagine getting a love letter from someone you admire and it starts with, “dear to whom it may concern.” Um no… lol
